There's a lot of similarity between our setups. I actually copied his setup exactly after the first round because my truck was so far off. After that I made just a couple small changes to suit my preferences. The main difference between our trucks is the springs.

I'll be experimenting with some accessory springs this weekend, along with a couple other slight changes. I'm really happy with the truck as it is now and I don't expect to make very drastic changes.

Hey Tim,

Great advice!! Love this thread. One question: what about goosebumps tires? I have the RTR and will do the sway bars, CD and aluminum rear carrier. What about the schoks? should I upgrade to big bores?
Thank you.

I've used the goosebump tire. It has a lot of grip but the insert is really soft and makes it a little inconsistant on the tracks I've driven at (hard clay). I think it will work well on loose outdoor tracks though.

The shocks aren't a mandatory upgrade like the swaybars and center diff. They are smoother and more consistant than the plastic shocks over time. I'd recommend upgrading to them after you've already done the other stuff.

Here's my latest setup sheet. The truck was very easy to drive this past weekend. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/l...h4x42-6-10.jpg

Hi Tim, How do you think this setup would work with the narrower 4x4/2wd rear wheels? What brand shock springs are you using orange front/black rear.

After getting the motor situation under control I now need to convince myself to get some better tires than the S1 BFG. I am having a hard time not running them on my home track just for the fun of running it sideways. Kick the rear end out and let it power drift the corners. Best part is the body that came with is destroyed and almost has the rear finders ripped off, for some reason the clear body was ultra thin when I started to paint it and must have pushed a little to hard with the knife to get the body snot off. Adds to the realism of the truck, the rear finders now flop.

Great Truck, this thing is the bomb!

Hey Tim...can't wait to try the new setup soon. I'm new to RC and your setup has made this truck more enjoyable... thanks for everything.
Were you running Bowties or Slash tires in the 1st setup you posted? I'm running stock tires now but want to try some new rubber this weekend.

Cjet- The narrower wheels will provide a little more traction. You may have to lower the truck a mm or so to prevent traction rolls. The orange springs are a forthcoming accessory, about 20% softer than stock. The black springs are stock.

Tiny- Glad you like it. The stock tires are fun, but not the fastest way around the track!

Yeti- The tires from my first setup were M3 Bowties as well. I prefer them on smooth tracks that have a clean racing line.

Moto- I haven't compared side to side where our setups differ. My first setup was almost a straight copy from Slayden's other than different front springs. My latest setup had a few changes to calm the truck down even more, but still keep up corner speed. The biggest improvement was increasing the rear diff oil to 10k. The truck still rotated well but was much more planted and predictable exiting the corners.
